2023-24 End of Season Recap

The 2023-2024 Blazer boys' basketball season came to end after losing in the sectional semifinal game against Churubusco in a hard fought battle. Eastside finished the year with 8 wins and 15 losses. Eastside had 3 opponents win sectional titles this season which include 2 NECC teams in Fairfield and Westview, and 1 non conference opponent in Canterbury. The Blazers won both games in Ohio this season at Edgerton and Edon. We moved to 9-0 in nostalgia games for Blazer program history after winning our 7th throwback game played at the Old Butler Gym against Lakewood Park and then winning at Edgerton's old gym.

Coach David Prokop became the 16th head coach for the Blazers since 1963. His 8 wins is the 5th most by an Eastside coach in his first year and places him in 12th all time in wins for the program. Kadis Renier led the junior varsity program this season to a 4-18 record, wins included Prairie Heights, Fort Wayne Smith Academy, and twice against Hamilton. Clay Minnick finished his career with 567 points including 287 points during his senior year. This places him 36th all time in total points in program history.

Coach Prokop and his staff would like to thank all players, managers, parents, administrators, and the entire Eastside and Butler community for supporting the Blazer Program all season long. Year 1 of building a positive, hard working, and exciting basketball program is now complete and now growing and continuing to take steps forward is in place.
