Eastside Season Comes to an End 
in Sectional Semifinal

The Eastside Blazers (8-15) made the drive out to Westview Jr. Sr. High School on Friday night to take on the Churubusco Eagles (9-16) in the sectional semifinal in a rematch of last regular season game where the Eagles came out on top 56-45 in Butler.

 

The second time around had a different storyline but same outcome as the Blazers fell 47-56. Eastside got behind early on losing the first quarter 12-19 but fought back in the second quarter to tie it up at 19 and again at 22 before the Eagles closed out the half on a 9-0 run to give them the lead after 2 quarters at 31-22. The Blazers however did not give up as they managed to get the game within two points 3 different times in the third quarter but just could not find a way to overcome

 

Busco's hot shooting first half that included 9 threes made and 11 total for the game. 

Clay Minnick was the leading scorer for the Blazers with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Nolan Baker finished the game with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. Ryder Reed had 7 points and 3 rebounds while Noah Acquaviva had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Loden Johnson had 5 points and 5 rebounds. 

Churubusco took on Westview in the Sectional Championship on Saturday night at Westview. The Warriors were crowned sectional champs after defeating Busco by a score of 51-39.
